The interesting thing is…

How can it be a secret if you can find out about it?  If you read the various conspiracy theory web sites, you’ll find nothing on this particular group.  Why?  It certainly has the bizarre elements that smoking guns enjoy.  If anything, news about the group has dwindled dramatically.  Most of the hard-core aunties have given up, beaten down by the apologists.  One would think this would make the group more bold.  Yet it still eschews the internet.  Never throw the first punch but be sure to throw the last punch, and so many aunties have been KO’d, not even daring to respond to e-mail inquiries.

Shame, shame!  More and more, people use the internet to do the research — yes, research!  It’s more than just look ups on the web.  People are talking to their neighbors and community stakeholders.

So the magician must maintain the illusion that the group is still in existence pretty much in the same manner that it was twenty plus years ago.  Another field office closed, unceremoniously evicted for lack of rental payments.  Another central office has moved, abandoning its home in one county and moving into another, citing as explanation they are following the migrant stream.  Somehow, the lack of mentioning a very public “outing” of the group caused it to lose all hope of recovering any kind of reputation in that community.  Just picture the angry villagers carrying pitchforks and torches chasing the monster.

We don’t pretend to know everything that goes on, nor is it our intention to try to know it.  Yes, there is a public side but there is a secret side and getting information about that portion is difficult.  The last person we corresponded with made some interesting comments.  The so-called reforms went out the window.  The tulips and other flowers planted in front of the brown stones give a false façade to a dark interior.  What warms up the interior?  Fabulous fur coats.  The price?  Demands for more tithes from the locals as some of the business ventures are going down the toilet.

It ain’t over until the fat lady sings.
